CARIF commissioned the first PALM laser-microdissection
platform in Malaysia. This system was also
sponsored by PETRONAS and is currently used by
not just CARIF researchers but by many
other Malaysian researchers. |

CARIF established Malaysia’s first oral
cancer cell line derived from a Malaysian
patient. |

CARIF’s first PhD Scholar completed her
PhD programme and returned to CARIF as a
Post-Doctoral Research Scientist. |

CARIF screened its 100th plant extract
for photosensitisers in the Photodynamic Therapy
project. |

MOU was signed between CARIF and

CARIF’s Group Leader for the Oral Cancer
Project was awarded the Norman-Rowe Education
Trust for most outstanding poster presentation
during the 10th International Congress on Oral
Cancer, Crete. |

CARIF is the first private research
facility to be awarded IRPA funding from the
Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
Value of the research grant was RM3.82 million
for 5 years.

August 2005
500th blood sample collected from breast cancer
patient at the Breast Cancer Clinic in UMMC. At
the moment, this is the largest breast cancer
patient cohort in a single study in Malaysia.
