You.Me.We can beat cancer. our people are our strength CARIF milestones
why should I care about cancer? our partners thank you to our donors
how CARIF can make a difference research directions join our efforts

This is CARIF’s mission statement: it is a message of solidarity and of hope. It is a simple yet powerful call to action which will help us achieve our goal of using research and evidence-based medicine to find ways to prevent the disease, detect it early, and treat and cure it more effectively.

CARIF is dedicated to achieving maximum benefit for Malaysian cancer patients by conducting research on key priority areas. In this brief review of CARIF’s activities, we have highlighted a few of our key milestones.

(a) In “Breast cancer breakthroughs”, we highlight how CARIF has identified key genetic changes in Asian (Malay, Chinese and Indian) women and shown that the majority of these are different from the genetic changes found in Caucasian women. We will be using this research to reduce the risk for families with increased risk to cancer and to build a risk assessment model specific for Asians.
(b) In “Targeted therapy for oral and nasopharyngeal cancer”, we describe our work in looking for new ways to diagnose and prevent these ‘Asian’ cancers.
(c) In “Finding a cure from Malaysia’s biodiversity”,we highlight how CARIF is working with many Malaysian and international organisations to systematically develop new cancer therapies by using Malaysia’s rich biodiversity and abundant natural resources, and using our diverse traditional knowledge.

We wish to thank our pioneer and on-going donors for your generous support.
Our Board of Trustees is conscious of our responsibility and our accountability to use the funds entrusted to us wisely and effectively.

It is our commitment to ensure that for every Ringgit invested in CARIF, at least 95 percent is used for research.

The work we do at CARIF presents an avenue for us all to invest in a better and healthier future. Work with us to make a difference. We CAN beat cancer. You and Me.
